Eczema Relief with Acupuncture & Herbs

Eczema can be relieved.

It is such a frustrating condition for parents because it’s hard to tell what makes it better or worse.

Chinese medicine has three ways to address eczema:

  • Acupuncture / acupressure

  • Topical (on the skin) herbal medicine

  • Oral (taken by mouth) herbal medicine

These treatments reduce inflammation and regulate the immune response, reduce staph infections, calm the nervous system to reduce itching, address the allergic response, and support intestinal mucosal repair if needed.

It IS possible for your child to return to clear skin and joyful health.

Come meet with us.

We will meet your child, discuss your health history, and design a customized treatment plan that includes at-home acupressure, herbal medicines (either for topical use or oral use), and other recommended dietary or lifestyle changes.

FAQs.

My child has trouble sitting still due to itching. Can they still receive acupuncture or acupressure treatment?

  • Yes! We move around with the child as they need to. We also have plenty of toys and distractions in our clinics to keep them entertained.

My child is afraid of needles. Will the treatment still be effective without needles?

  • Yes. We use a Japanese style of acupressure called Shonishin which is designed to be very effective for children while feeling like a massage. Needles are not necessary for children.

My child is sensitive to taste. Will they be able to manage Chinese herbal medicine for eczema?

  • Yes. Herbs are available in powder, pill, and liquid tincture formats, so we can usually find something that your child will be able to consume.

How long does it take to heal eczema?

Children all vary in their constitution and the direct causes and severity of their eczema.

Research has shown that disruptions in the gut and skin microbiomes precipitate eczema. For each child there may be different reasons for those changes, which can include:

  • Stress — which negatively impacts the gut microbiome in as little as an hour

  • Improper diet — impacted by high levels of food additives in ultra-processed foods, insufficient fruits and vegetables, and/or high levels of pesticides in non-organic foods

  • Food sensitivities — which can irritate and degrade the gut lining

  • Exposure to environmental toxins through the skin barrier — either directly disrupting the skin microbiome or causing increased itching which disrupts the skin barrier

We will work with you to try to determine which of these causes may be at the root of your child’s eczema. While we work with your child to restore proper gut and skin functioning, decrease inflammation, decrease itching, and improve nervous system health, we will also advise your family on potential changes you might make or tests you might explore to determine how to address the underlying causes.

Some of our eczema clients make great progress in just a few sessions. For others it has been a more long-lasting pattern and it takes months to truly improve the situation.

Relief is near.
